A Crowner John mystery by Bernard Knight.

Exeter, 1194 - A Norman knight newly returned from the crusades is found murdered. Another knight was heard threatening to kill the dead man and this is evidence enough for the Sheriff to arrest the man for murder. The king's new "crowner" or "coroner" however is not soi certain and sets out to discover the truth.
