Spent a year in Australia and recorded the Maranatha album with the Flying Circus. She worked at Go-set magazine's Sydney office and was introduced to Doug Rowe when she played a couple of her original songs to him. He asked her to write an album full of material and then produced the album. Previously she had played at parties and talent shows in high school and college but had done nothing professionally. She moved back to the U.S. before the album was released because her visitor's visa expired.
