Canada's Got Talent is a Canadian television reality talent show that debuted on the Citytv network on 04 March 2012, and is part of the global "Got Talent" franchise. As with other series in the franchise, the show is a competition in which entertainers with various abilities compete to win a prize. In the first season, the winner won $100,000 and a Nissan GT-R, an opportunity to perform during City TV's New Year's Eve Bash, a possibility to perform in Las Vegas, and a trip to Trinidad and Tobago. In June 2012, after the first season had been completed, Rogers Media president Scott Moore announced that a second season would not be produced, after a "careful consideration of all factors, including the current economic climate". But then, in 2020, Citytv's morning show Breakfast Television held a "Canadian Family's Got Talent" competition as a kind of recognition of COVID-19 pandemic lockdowns across the country (and to promote season 15 of America's Got Talent). After that, on 08 June 2021, it was announced that Canada's Got Talent would be revived, later specifying a return date of spring 2022. In October 2021, Citytv announced that Lindsay Ell would host, with Canadian comedian and America's Got Talent judge Howie Mandel, internet personality Lilly Singh, musician Kardinal Offishall, and wrestler Trish Stratus serving as judges. Canada's Got Talent took place in Niagara Falls in seasons two, three and four, with finales on live TV. In the second and third seasons, the winner received a cash prize of $150,000. Season two's TV premiere was on 22 March 2022, while in season three, it was on 21 March 2023. In the fourth season, which premiered on 19 March 2024, the winner received one million dollars, funded by Citytv owner Rogers Communications. In addition, for the first time in franchise history, recipients of a Golden Buzzer during the auditions received a $25,000 prize from sponsor CIBC. Enjoy!
