In Lightyear Frontier we find ourselves on an alien planet, the surface of which we explore at the controls of a powerful mech. During the game, we must not only make this picturesque globe our new home, but also discover its secrets and learn more about the civilization that once inhabited it, which left behind mysterious structures.

Lightyear Frontier offers us a vast open world. We can observe the action here both from the first person perspective (FPP) and in the TPP view. While playing, we have various responsibilities on our shoulders. We collect useful raw materials and cultivate the land on which we plant various species of plants (their range expands as we progress). Moreover, the globe is inhabited by various animals that we can domesticate and breed, and even mess with their genetics. Over time, we accumulate enough supplies to be able to construct our first headquarters. As we progress, we expand it, building more and more advanced structures within it. Although it all sounds quite idyllic, from time to time the planet can take its toll on us. The weather (which changes realistically) can be violent, and the changing seasons mean we have to constantly keep an eye on what's happening on the farm.

We do all this while sitting at the controls of a large mech. Like a futuristic tractor, it is used both for exploration and for working on the farm. We use it to cut down trees and split stones, water plants and mow crops. As we progress, we gain various improvements that increase its capabilities.

Of course, our stay on a foreign planet is not only about working on the farm. This picturesque globe is full of secrets hidden in ancient buildings left by an ancient civilization. By examining them, we learn more about the planet and its previous inhabitants.

Lightyear Frontier allows you to play both solo and cooperatively with up to three players.

Lightyear Frontier has colorful graphics in an eye-pleasing style reminiscent of the game No Man's Sky. The game takes place to the accompaniment of a catchy soundtrack described by the creators as "space country".
