Ride is a British alternative band formed in 1988 in Oxford, England. The group stood at the origins of the “shoegazing” scene. After the group disbanded in 1996, the members moved on to other projects. In 2001, the band members temporarily reunited for a single appearance on a television show. Their debut album, Nowhere, was ranked #74 on Pitchfork Media's Top 100 Albums of the Nineties list and was named one of shoegaze's greatest, and its track "Vapour Trail" was ranked #145 on the Top 200 Albums of the Nineties. This album is also included in the book 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die. On November 19, 2014, the group announced their reunion
