Deze film geregisseerd door Richard Attenborough, is gebaseerd op het

persoonlijk financieel risico moest Attenborough doorstaan om zijn 
grote droom te kunnen verwezenlijken: het leven van Mohandas 
Kharamchand Gandhi zodanig te herscheppen dat zowel een westers als een 
oosters publiek het spirituele belang van de Mahatma inziet.

Ben Kingsley is meesterlijk als Mahatma Gandhi, de man van wijsheden 
als "An Eye For An Eye Only Ends Up Making The Whole World Blind". Een 
indrukwekkend epos, met massascenes waarin geen digitale effecten zijn 
gebruikt. Een meesterwerk!

Het levensverhaal van een kleine man die een grote wereldmacht op zijn 
knieën wist te krijgen en zijn volk door geweldloos verzet naar 
onafhankelijkheid wist te leiden. Gandhi werd geboren in Zuid-Afrika 
waar hij als jong advocaat al met succes enkele excessen van de 
racistische regeringspolitie aan de kaak wist te stellen. Toen hij 
verhuisde naar het land van zijn ouders, India, werd hij daar dan ook 
als een held binnengehaald. Al snel raakte hij ook hier bij de politiek 
betrokken. Hij kwam op voor het gewone volk, bijvoorbeeld in hun strijd 
tegen de grootgrondbezitters en langzaam maar zeker werd hij een vader

This film directed by Richard Attenborough, based on the life of 
Mahatma Gandhi, one of the most monumental figures of the last century. 
The film won a total of eight Oscars, including best actor, best 
screenplay and best film.

"It's more like," said Richard Attenborough, "I do not want to become a 
director. I just wanted to run that movie." Gandhi was an actor for the 
mission. 20 years of adversity, ridicule and personal financial risk 
Attenborough had to endure in order to achieve his dream: the life of 
Mohandas Gandhi Kharamchand way to recreate that both a western and an 
eastern spiritual interests of the public understands the Mahatma.

Ben Kingsley is masterful as Mahatma Gandhi, the man of wisdom like "An 
Eye For An Eye Only Ends Up Making The Whole World Blind. " An 
impressive epic, with lots of scenes in which no digital effects are 
used. A masterpiece!

The life story of a little man with a great world power able to get on 
his knees and his people to independence through nonviolent resistance 
was able to lead. Gandhi was born in South Africa where he was a young 
lawyer already successfully some racist excesses of the government to 
condemn police managed to establish. When he moved to his parents' 
homeland, India, he was there as a hero met. Soon he became involved in 
politics again. He stood up for ordinary people, for example in their 
struggle against the landowners and gradually became a father to his 
people that longed to free himself to the English
