The Tragically Hip is a Canadian rock band from Kingston, Ontario, consisting of Gordon Downie (lead vocals and guitar), Paul Langlois (guitar), Rob Baker (guitar), Gord Sinclair (bass) and Johnny Fay (drums).

The band is popular and influential in Canada. Their 2000 album Music at Work won Best Rock Album at the 2001 Juno Awards, as did their 1998 album Phantom Power at the 1999 Junos.

In 2005 they were inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame. They also hold the record for most number one debuts on the Canadian Albums Chart with a total of eight albums. 






We Are The Same  2009


We Are the Same is the eleventh full-length studio album by Canadian rock band The Tragically Hip, released April 7, 2009 on Universal Music in Canada and Zoë Records in the United States. The album was recorded at The Bathouse Recording Studio in Bath, Ontario with producer Bob Rock.[1]

The opening track, "Morning Moon", was released on the band's website in advance of the album's release. The first single, "Love Is a First" was released February 27, 2009 and peaked at #22 on the Canadian Hot 100.

On April 6, 2009, to coincide with the release of We Are the Same, The Tragically Hip performed at The Bathouse Recording Studio in a concert that was screened live in Cineplex theatres across Canada.[2]

The album debuted at #1 on the Canadian Albums Chart[3], making it the band's eighth #1 debut on the chart. In the U.S. it debuted #148 on the Billboard 200.
