If there is no resistance, check to see if tube is all the way into coupling. o Once canteen is pressurized, water will flow to your mouth. o After drinking, decontam canteen, replace tube in mask holder. · If no drinking tube: o close eyes, hold breath, lift mask. o Place canteen to lips, THEN open lips, drink. o Close lips, lower mask. o Clear mask. o Decontam top of canteen. o Put top back on. o If you have M8 paper, touch it to inside of canteen cap to test for contamination. Sleep under cover and do not sleep on contaminated ground. If you must, cover the ground first. · Shaving: daily if possible to ensure good seal on mask. 25% of personnel shave at a time. Water storage in advance is critical. Hour 3: 01:00 Ed on chat rooms. 05:00 Don on night vision (NV). · Generation 1: Walmart may be cheapest. But may have small front lens, gathers less light. · Look for NV with biggest front lens. · 1st generation: be sure you have an illuminator. · 1st gen: may not have resolution to see across 100 meter field. · NV useful for evasion & escape. · Someone using 3rd gen will be able to sight you first if you have 1st gen. · Lifetime of 1st gen: 1200 hours from new tube. If used, you won’t know how many hours used. · There is a device on market that will tell how much time is on tube. · 1st gen up to 25 lines per millimeter (LPM) resolution. · 2nd gen getting rare. Minimum of 2500 hours lifetime. · 2nd gen: starts at 32-35 LPM resolution. · “Super second†gen: 45-50 LPM. · With micro channel plate, more LPM means more light amplification. · 3rd gen: Cyanide film on front lens. Film lets more light through, protects microchannel plate. · 3rd gen: minimum of 9000-10000 hours lifetime. · Heavy usage liable to reduce lifetime. · 3rd gen: better ultraviolet sensitivity. · Full moon, non-obstructed vision with 4x gunsight, differentiate between deer and cow: o 1st gen: 100-125 yards. o 2nd gen: 300-400 yards. · No moon, but starry sky: o 1st gen: 20-40 yards. Looks like reflection in pool. 25:00 Video surveillance · Medical supply boat attacked near Gaza: one Israeli patrol boat with lights to distract, another with no lights that rammed ship. · No excuse not to deploy inexpensive video cameras around relief vessels to document everything. Entire ship could be outfitted for $200. · Video surveillance cameras are very light sensitive (see in low light). · Everyone should install cameras for documenting nefarious actions of various agencies. · Waco - feds destroyed all film. · Valuable for intelligence collection and future evaluation. · Record video of military actions. · Helps correct mistakes by documenting them. · Real time recovery of data. · Relief should be by flotilla. 30:00 Thermal imaging. · Images can be downloaded to computer. · Entry level thermal imaging device manufacturer’s suggested price $5195. This includes illuminated reticles. · Light discipline: if you hold night vision device eyepiece away from your face so your skin is illuminated, enemy with NV can see you. · Illuminated reticles, red dots, can be used depending on threat level. May be effective against scalawags but not well-equipped snipers. · Clutter on battlefield: the more stuff burning, the harder it is to pick out soldiers. E.g. smudge pots. · Don’s number: 231-796-8458 51:00 Announcement of new Colonial Marine company commanders in Virginia and North Carolina.
