This album by tenor saxophonist and composer James Brandon Lewis is dedicated
to Charlie Haden and Ornette Coleman and and the idea of surrealism. Lewis sees
his music as a call to action and is aided in this quest by Jaimie Branch on
trumpet, Luke Stewart on bass. Anthony Pirog on guitar and Warren Trae Crudup
III on drums. "An Unruly Manifesto" builds organically with deeply furrowed
bass and drums and guitar shading, while stoic trumpet cuts across the scene,
and the leader's saxophone gracefully enters at a solid medium tempo...
