So You Think You Can Dance, an American dance competition show for people aged 18-30, returned for its fourteenth season on Monday, June 12, 2017. It was broadcast on Fox in the United States, with a show each week on a Monday night. The judging panel once again featured series creator Nigel Lythgoe (who also served as executive producer), as well as the returning ballroom expert Mary Murphy, along with new permanent member Vanessa Hudgens. Cat Deeley continued in her role as host for a thirteenth consecutive season. Open auditions for 2017's season fourteen were held in Brooklyn on March 5th and 6th, and in Los Angeles on March 17th. One hundred dancers were selected by the judges for the Los Angeles Dance Academy portion of the season (shown in episodes 5-7). Ten All-Stars acted as judges during the Academy round. The All-Stars were: Gaby Diaz, Comfort Fedoke, Marko Germar, Jasmine Harper, Allison Holker, Jenna Johnson, Paul Karmiryan, Robert Roldan, Cyrus Spencer, and Du-Shaunt "Fik-Shun" Stegall. Each All-Star had to select four dancers to form a team. This was done after different dance style challenges. Thus, the one hundred dancers were trimmed down to ten teams of four. Ultimately, at the end of Academy, each All-Star chose one dancer to move on to compete in the live shows in Hollywood. On the live shows, the competitors performed in different dance styles, working with world-renowned choreographers and dancing alongside the All-Stars. These live shows started with the Top 10 competing in episodes eight and nine. Then there were eliminations based on TV fan voting, which reduced the number of competitors each week until the Top 4 appeared in the last two episodes (fourteen and fifteen). In the season finale, the winner was named America’s Favorite Dancer. Enjoy!
