In Japanese occupied Shanghai, Nationalist agents harass the Japanese garrison with raids and assassinations. The Japanese Commander (Fung Ngai) orders the puppet intelligence Chief Chen to round up all suspects within three days.
 Li Tan Ni (Li Li Hua) escapes amidst the confusion when Japanese agents arrest the performer of an opera troupe. Returning home, Li Tan Ni discovers that her husband Chen Hsi Chiang (Yan Jun) has joined the puppet intelligence network as a Japanese collaborator and a violent quarrel follows.
 Chen is urged to shoot Li Tan Ni but she manages to escape.
