Audio Books : Mystery and Suspense : Other quality : English All titles are unabridged, of CD quality and narrated by Barbara Rosenblat. Most are recorded at 32 kbps / 22 kHz Mono CBR MP3, except for books 3, 6, 7, 8, 9, 12, 13 and 14 which are 48 kbps Mono CBR MP3. Thanks to Bookywoody, Iles8301, Silverraven and Biggergus for their contributions to this collection. Unless otherwise stated, these are my rips. If you are not familiar with this mystery/adventure series and want to try them, they are best read in chronological (time period) order. They were not all published in this order though, so don't go by the dates of publication. The books span the time period from 1884-1923 and follow Amelia and her family on their excavations in Egypt with a few side adventures in other countries. If you have only read some of the earlier books, I'd encourage you to read the later ones, when Amelia's son Ramses begins to play a larger role in the books. (DeeG) * For more details on individual books please use this link: http://www.ameliapeabody.com/bookshelf.htm The following Amelia Peabody titles are listed in order of time period not publication date. 01... Crocodile on the Sandbank (1884-1885) 02... Curse of the Pharaohs (1892-1893) 03... The Mummy Case (1894-1895) - Thanks to Silverraven. 04... Lion in the Valley (1895-1896) 05... Deeds of the Disturber (1896) This title is the only one in the series not to be set around Egypt. 06... The Last Camel Died at Noon (1897-1898.) - Thanks to Silverraven. 07... The Snake, the Crocodile, and the Dog (1898-1899) - Thanks to Gus. 08... The Hippopotamus Pool (1899-1900) - Thanks to Silverraven. 09... Seeing a Large Cat (1903-1904) - Thanks to Bookywoody. `Seeing a Large Cat` begins an internal quartet (which also includes `The Ape Who Guards the Balance`, `The Falcon at the Portal` and 'He Shall Thunder in the Sky'). The quartet comprises not only Amelia's diary of those years but also parts of a mysterious "Manuscript H," an omniscient viewpoint that allows a glimpse into the minds of Amelia's son--the dashing and brilliant Ramses--and her ward, Nefret Forth, as they mature into adults with their own secrets and agendas. 'The Falcon at the Portal' left readers hanging impatiently in the enormous rift that book's events gouged between Ramses and Nefret, both madly in love but unrelentingly proud. 10... The Ape Who Guards the Balance (1906-1907) 11... Guardian of the Horizon (1907-1908.) 12... A River in the Sky (1910) - Thanks to Iles8301 13... The Falcon at the Portal (1911-1912) 14... He Shall Thunder in the Sky (1914-1915) - Thanks to Bookywoody. 15... Lord of the Silent (1915-1916) 16... The Golden One (1916-1917) 17... Children of the Storm (1919-1920) 18... Serpent on the Crown (1921-1922) 19... Tomb of the Golden Bird (1922-1923) Barbara Mertz 1927~2013 Barbara Mertz (aka Elizabeth Peters & Barbara Michaels) died peacefully at home early in the morning of Aug. 8, 2013. She had put up a very tough battle against cancer for over a decade, in a style worthy of Amelia. She preferred not to be fussed over, and so did not make her illness public. She died as she had told everyone she wanted to - unexpectedly, in her sleep. Shortly before her death, she had written a line to be posted on her webpage: "At 85, Elizabeth Peters is enjoying her cats, her garden, lots of chocolate, and not nearly enough gin!" Enjoy and Seed!!
