Plot Summary

After losing her fiance and the use of her legs in a car accident, grief-stricken Jessie (Sarah Snook) retreats to her father's rundown Louisiana mansion where she begins to suffer frightening visions of a dead young black woman trying to attack her.

While watching some old video tapes, Jessie eventually discovers that her parents aren't her biological parents and that the baby her 'mother' was pregnant with - Jessabelle - was not her but the result of an affair with a black man. Her 'father' murdered Jessabelle and adopted her to cover it up. Jessie's 'mother' then killed herself after casting a spell on Jessie enabling Jessabelle's spirit to return to life in Jessie's form.
