2 Series, each series 10 x 30 mins

Earthsearch comes from the late 1970s / early 80s and was aimed at those like me who are not hardened SF fans.

The crew of the Starshp Challenger left Earth around the 25th century to search out a new planet for colonisation, moving through space at near the speed of light. Most of the crew were wiped out by an asteroid strike, leaving only 4 babies alive. These grow up to be the crew at the start of the series. They return the ship to where the Earth was, to find a) the moon orbiting in its place and b) that a million years has passed, not the 115 years they believe. They must seek out the Earth, doing battle with various dangers along the way, not least the overbearing and ultra controlling "Angels", computer systems which the crew believe to be almost infallible.

The second series worked less well for me and seemed a gratuitous "cashing in" but is worth listening to nonetheless.

The much later 3 episodes of the series "Earthsearch Mindwarp", which has nothing in common with the original series, have been excluded.
